Pamela – Hope for the Future:

On the 1st of August 2012 Pamela was brought back to the Health Unit for review.

Pamela had been admitted some months back – unconscious and in an extremely poor condition. The daily ward rounds were frustrating at least for the Medical Team. Pamela’s condition seemed to stand still. No change whatsoever. But Pamela’s mother remained positive and would always tell us: „Today she is a bit better“. Trust and hope ring in the mother’s voice. But as a team we feel helpless, unable to do anything.

But after one month even Pamela’s mother seems to have given up. She had patiently been feeding her daughter using a nasogastric tube, but now she was tired and wanted to go home. We try to convince her to stay but Pamela’s mother is alone. She should actually be working to provide for herself and her child. And who will pay the bill?

So we release Pamela and her mother. We are discouraged – one child we were unable to help.

But now in August Pamela had been brought back for review. She was able to eat and even walk but still unable to speak.

Then on 14th February 2013 another miracle. Pamela and her mother come to visit another patient. Pamela can walk, eat and even talk. No sign that she had been at the point of death.

May all the glory be given to God the Father for his healing touch and ‘thank you’ to all staff for their tireless efforts.
